Our project Space to Escape funded by Glasgow Life, aimed to provide free, high quality art workshops for ethnic minority women. This created a space for relaxation, improved mental health and wellbeing, creativity, integration and social interaction.
The project was implemented and developed by EWfC artist Lababa Naqvi and EWfC mindfulness practitioner Kaneez Fizza, supported by our talented volunteers and trustees.
Space to escape workshop EWfC women working together to improve confidence and community engagement
The project was tailored according to the needs and interests of the participants by working closely with them to ensure that they are the ones designing and developing the project according to their concerns. The project enabled a wide range of women to take part in learning new, transferable, creative and artistic skills.

Monitoring and evaluation was carried out through various means to ensure that the project achieved its aims and had a positive impact on the participants. This was done through questionnaires, participant testimonies through video, audio and verbal feedback, and observations of the project by the development team.
The project delivered 6 high quality art workshops including:
  • Introducing skills to painting and drawing
  • Drawing techniques
  • Still life drawing
  • Art of mindfulness
  • Pottery making

The outcome of the project was beautiful artwork!
