Funded by the Henry Duncan Grant, Corra Foundation, the project aimed to help families of asylum seekers, refugees, and vulnerable ethnic minority individuals who are living in poverty, to cope and feel supported.
The project offered the following:
Living essentials relief
Money and budgeting advice
Knowledge and access to welfare benefits
Digital inclusion and literacy
Provided essentials through an improved access to better and increased food options as well as clothing, which helped reduce stress and pressure. The project provided more than 4000 food parcels, 533 food vouchers and 2000 halal cooked meals.
Provided food options for service users with special medical food restrictions, e.g. celiac disease
Offered food options for service users with food restrictions for religious reasons
Delivered food to specific families who could not travel to the office due to financial or medical issues
Provided better ability to properly budget and manage limited financial resources reducing the pressure of having to deal with limited funds improving the wellbeing of their families
Improved literacy and digital knowledge
Provided an additional environment for interaction and socialising, to reduce isolation caused by poverty
Helped service users access relevant welfare support information from well-trained people
Trained 15 volunteers who have developed organisational, leadership, responsibility and data management skills
