Funded by the Women Thrive Project funded by Rosa and Smallwood Trust, the Financial Wellbeing project aimed to deliver financial wellbeing support to women and young girls within the community.
The project had several objectives, including:
  • build women's financial resilience
  • empower women by alleviating and eradicating the impacts and effects of poverty
  • offer opportunities in training, education and employability
  • equip women with skills in money management and budgeting
  • act as a catalyst in influencing and encouraging the financial empowerment and security of underrepresented women.
The project provided several activities and services:
  • Drop-In Service
    - We provided support to service users and volunteers to understand and access various welfare benefits. Since November 2021 we have supported more than 100 women and their families
  • Welfare advice and support for asylum seekers
  • Free school meals, clothing grants and free bus travel
    - It was made clear to us that many of our service users were not aware or had not received their children's entitlement to free school meals, clothing grants for school uniforms, and the recent entitlement for free bus travel for under 22s.
  • Energy cost support
    - Support was offered by Glasgow's Golden Generation who were able to provide fuel vouchers to those in need.
