The start of TLCCP Sewing Classes
The first TLCPP Zoom sewing class took place on Saturday and was a great success. 8 participants gathered and one of our volunteers, Mrs. Bello Rofiat showed everyone how to set up a sewing machine and did a fantastic job.
These classes will be held twice weekly, and 6 participants have been lent sewing machines to use. We are extremely grateful for the equipment, which has been provided with the help of CCF funding.
Participants will be able to use the sewing machines for over a month, and we hope to be able to continue the classes together in the EWFC office, if lockdown restrictions are eased in the near future. We are using fabric from the TLCCP Swap Shop, so this allows us to upcycle unusable clothing.
The aim of these workshops is to improve participants’ sewing skills, to encourage and empower them to become more sustainable in their day-to-day lives. Sewing is also a highly therapeutic and mindful activity, that allows participants to improve their mental health and wellbeing whilst isolated at home during the lockdown.
Due to the limited number of sewing machines we have available, we can only welcome people who already have their own sewing machines. If you have a sewing machine and you would like to join us, please get in touch!
