TLCCP Volunteers: Lababa Naqvi
We would like to present one of our amazing The Low Carbon Community Project volunteers Lababa Naqvi! Lababa is involved in the Swap Shop project that has been a lifeline to many vulnerable people during the times of COVID-19. Lababa’s hard work and dedication have largely contributed to the success of the Swap Shop and TLCCP more generally. She was happy to share a bit more about herself and her experience of volunteering in the Swap Shop, read it below.
My Name is Lababa Naqvi and I’m a fine Artist from Pakistan .I moved to UK in 2017 October. I started volunteering for Empower Women for Change in 2018 and later on became a staff member.
In The Low Carbon Community Project we are helping out the asylum seekers, refugees and any people who need help with clothes etc.
My experience so far has been great. We have been able to help out a lot of families with summer and winter clothings including sweaters, jackets, coats and shoes.
It has been an amazing experience for me as when you help out families with clothes to keep them and their children warm you get a feeling of true happiness that you were able to help someone, and I believe people are more likely to perform feats of generosity after observing another do the same. This effect can ripple throughout the community, inspiring dozens of individuals to make a difference.
